Don't You Forget About Me

I was saddened yesterday to learn about the death of director John Hughes. he appartnetly had a heart attack while out for his morning walk in Manhattan. He responsible for such classics as "Sixteen Candles" , "Pretty In Pink", "Home Alone" and my personal favorite, "The Breakfast Club" All his movies, especially the ones with Molly Ringwald bring back so many memories of my teen years in the 80's and I am sure they still speak to teens today. Mr. Hughes I want to thank you for all the great films and ,sir, you will be greatly missed.

Come Out Come Out Where Ever You Are

As usual the BF and I are watching this summers edition of Big Brother. So far it has not been that exciting of a season but ,hey, we are only 3 weeks in. So far our 2 favorites are Jeff and Jordon. The one person I can not stand and personally would bitch slap if I was in the house would be Ronnie. This guy is a total douche. Do you remember in high school there was always this one nerdy kid that the jocks and popular kids let hang around them? The nerd thought he was super cool and part of the gang while the jocks and populars just wanted a bitch boy? That boy is Ronnie. He goes around acting like he is a god when everybody is laughing at him and dislikes him. He thinks he is running the game but in all honesty he is just doing the jocks bidding so they don't get their hands dirty. Hopefully the rest of the house guests will smarten up and get Ronnie out before he ends up like Evil Dick did a few seasons ago. Be hated by all but still winning the whole thing.
Another thing about Ronnie is that the boy is the biggest closet case I have ever seen. He is "married" to a woman but so was I once. He just has this gay vibe about him to me.The way he jumps up and down when he wins something, the crying, and best of all ... when he won HOH and got to get his CD that he chose...it was Legally Blonde : The Musical. Cmon!!!! GAY!!!! (allegedly)

Madonna Monday
This to me is the funniest thing Madonna has ever done in her career. It is one of 8 shorts produce by BMW in 2001/2002. This clip with Madonna called "Star" was directed by then husband Guy Ritchie. Madge does not appear in all 8 shorts, just this one. Although Clive Owen does appear in all 8. The entire series was called "The Hire". I can watch this over and over again and it still cracks me up. Pure genius!

My New Best Friend

As you can probably tell things are not going well for me right now. The job search has only yielded 3 interviews in which none have panned out. I have sent dozens of copies of my resume out, applied to several job openings on line and yet nothing. Now I keep getting bombarded with calls an emails about my car payment which I am 3 payments behind. I just don't know what to do. All I keeping thinking is that at least I am free and have a place to stay and food to eat. Others in my position probably don't have the people that care for them like. So I just trudge forward and hope everyday that something will come through. Until then I just keep on trying.

Summer Film Fest

Overall we have been keeping up with our summer movie schedule this year. So far since the summer movie season '09 started we have seen:
1. Star Trek
2. Angels And Demons
3. Terminator: Salvation
4. Up!
5. Land Of The Lost
6. Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince
The next movie on our list is "The Orphan" which is released on Friday. We have not yet seen seen the new Transformers movie. I still have not seen the first so that one is up in the air. So far I have not really been disappointed with anything we have seen this year with the exception of "Land Of The Lost" Don't get me wrong is wasn't terrible it just wasn't great either. My favorite so far has been "Up!" Love Mr. Frederickson.

Madonna Monday
20 years ago on March 2nd, 1989 Pepsi aired their new commercial featuring Madonna's new single "Like A Prayer" during The Cosby Show. This was the first time a major artist had debuted a single in a commercial. I mean this was so big there was a commercial advertising the actually ad. The ad only aired once. The next day the video for "Like A Prayer" was released and the boys at Pepsi were not too pleased. The sexual religious undertones and burning crosses were too much for some and a Pepsi boycott was threatened if the ad was not pulled. Pepsi pulled the ad and backed out of sponsoring Madonna's upcoming "Blonde Ambition" tour that summer. Madonna did keep the $5 million she was paid for the ad and when asked if she would ever do commercial again she responded by saying " I think people will think twice before the ask me to endorse their product" In the future Madonna has done ads for such companies and Max Factor and Este Lauder. In September of that year "Like A Prayer" won the Viewers Choice Award at MTV's Video Music Awards. The award was sponsored by.......Pepsi!

God I Hope I Get It

The Emmy's have been known for the snubbing of some great shows and acting. Sarah Michelle Gellar for "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" , Lauren Graham for "Gilmore Girls", Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell for "Battelstar Galactica" Sci fi has always had a hard time with the Emmys.
Now there are some nominations I was very pleased to see. Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange for "Grey Gardens" and Jim Parsons as Dr. Sheldon Cooper on ABC's "The Big Bang Theory" are just a few. Some categories I feel are not needed such as Best Reality Show Host. Speaking of reality shows, here is an interesting fact. "The Amazing Race" has won best reality show competion every year since 2003. In fact it is the only show to win that category. "American Idol' has been nominated every time and has never won.
The 61st Primetime Emmy awards airs September 20th on CBS with host Neil Patrick Harris.

Madonna Monday
" Who's That Girl" is one of the rare songs that Madonna has released as a single but has performed during only one tour. That tour of course being 1987's "Who's That Girl" Tour. The song is from the film of the same name and spent 1 week at #1 in August of 87. It has been considered one of her best songs. It has been notably absent from any greatest hits album she has released. The song has always been one of my favorite Madge tunes and I have always wondered did she write the song about herself?

Madonna Monday
On Saturday Madonna started the second leg of her Sticky and Sweet Tour at London's O2 Arena. This is the same venue that Michael Jackson was to have his come back concerts had he not passed. The buzz was that Madonna was planning this awesome tribute to M.J. and I was really excited to see what she was going to do. After watching the video I have to admit I was a bit let down. I would think that Madonna would have put forth a bit more effort. I mean don't get me wrong. I love Madonna more than my luggage but I was hoping for something more. Take for instance her inclusion of the chorus of " Bille Jean' in "Like A Virgin" during her 1985 Virgin Tour. That was awesome. The London tribute just seemed half hearted. Rarely does Madge disappoints me, I guess this was just one of those times.

Savannah 101

On Saturday it was more walking and sight seeing. We toured the Mercer House. This is the house where the shooting that inspired the book " Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil " took place. You are only shown the first floor of the house which is gorgeous. You actually get to go in the room where the shooting to place. The house is full of art and antiques. Simply beautiful. After the tour I showed B Forsyth Park ( The picture above is the fountain in the park). Then we ate a awesome hamburger place called 5 guys. After that we just relaxed at the hotel.
Sunday we went to Tybee Island . Now before I go any further let me explain that the BF is not used to humidity. We live in Arizona were its hot but dry so he wasn't handling the weather in Georgia very well and that is why we rested at the hotel a lot. Now back to the story. We walked the beach for about 30 minutes then decided to head back. On the way to the car B announced he needed to stop and rest. A few minutes later he passed out in the sand. Luckily two ladies saw this and helped. They gave me a glass of water to give B and one of the ladies called 911 while they other cooled B off by a shirt dipped in the ice water from her cooler. The EMT and beach patrol showed up quickly. They put B in the ambulance and had him rest and cool off. after about 30 minutes they felt he was ok and let him go. i just want to say thank you to whomever those 2 ladies were. I don't know what I would have done if you had not helped. You are angels and I appreciate it all. Needless to say we just stayed in the rest of the day and my guy is fine.
Monday was court and once that was done we headed back to Atlanta. We spent the night at a AWFUL hotel near the airport ( I do not recommend Super 8 motels to anybody) and at 8:05 am Tuesday we were on the plane heading back to Phoenix.
Over all it was a good trip and I think the BF enjoyed it (Well except the beach). I am just glad to be home!
