High School Redux

The other night the Bf and I watched a preview of a new show coming to FOX this fall called "Glee". After watching it I know for a fact that this will be my favorite show of the fall season if not one of my all time faves. The kids in the Glee club on the show all embodied my high school experience to a tee. the feeling of not belonging, feeling different, just wanting a place to belong and feel safe. In the show the rival of the glee club are the jocks. In my high school it was the band. Our band was ranked #1 in the state and so everything was about the band. I actually was in both but choir was where I felt at home. If you get a chance to see the show (I believe you can see it on Fox.com) watch it. For me it brought out the little teenaged drama/music queen from Kansas and flooded me with memories.

A Life On Hiatus

So about 10 years ago I was a bad boy when I lived in Savannah and I broke the law. My punishment was 3 years probation , to pay restitution and do 120 hours community service. I did report every month to my probation officer and never got in trouble. What I did not do was finish paying the restitution. So after my last visit with the officer I honestly never heard from them again so I went on with my life. Flash forward to March 19th of this year. My car breaks down and while waiting for the BF to come give me a ride to work , a Scottsdale police officer stops me and asks if I need help . I tell him I am just waiting for somebo0dy to come pick me up because my car broke down. He was very nice but requested to see my DL. Well after he ran it i was told I had a warrant out in Georgia and they wanted to extradite me back so I was arrested. Long story short. I was not extradited but I did spend 32 days in county jail and I have to go to Georgia on June 29th for a court date. Because of all of this my life has completely went to hell. I lost my job and my apartment and almost my car. I am now staying with the Bf and his roomie while I try to pick up the pieces again. It is very difficult to be 37 and have to start over again. I thank God that I have a BF and friends that care for me and did what they could to help. Hopefully things will go well on my court date and I can rebuild again.

Road Rage and Renaissance

So yesterday the BF and I went to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. Over all it was an enjoyable day. i will post pics on my facebook page when I can find the USB cable for my camera. What I want to discuss here is that apparently I have a bit of road rage when driving. It was awful driving on the 101 yesterday. Twice we got stuck in traffic jams because of construction. No warnings that it was coming just ..boom...your stuck. What should have been a 60 minute trip turned it a 2 and half hours. What really bugs me is when people clearly see a sign telling them they need to merge and what do they do??? Instead of merging they just keep on going right to the last possible point where they have no choice but to merge. WTF??!!! So yeah I guess I play the ass and I don't let them in. So bf was afraid I was going to get us shot at. I never knew how bad I was because when I drive I am usually by myself. When we go together somewhere he usually drives. Its funny how you never know these thngs until somebody else points them out. So to all those jerks on the 101 yesterday who wasn't let in merging traffic by a white Chevy Cobalt and to my passenger I apologize.

And The Winner Is.......

Last night the BF and I continued our annual tradition and watched the Academy Awards last night. I enjoyed more this than I have in the past. I really liked the way they present the acting awards with previous winners of the same category and I thought Hugh Jackman did an excellent job hosting. The one thing I didn't like was that whole musical number with Jackman , Beyonce and others. I feel it wasn't needed and the time they used for it could have gone to the Best Song noms so they could preform their songs in their entirity. I do admit that this year the winners were pretty predictible but I am so happy that Sean Penn won instead of Mickey Rouke. Also I am very happy for Kate Winslet. She has deserved an Oscar for so long. I mean at age 33 she has had 6 noms. Over all it was pretty enjoyable. Here is the list of winners:
- Motion Picture: "Slumdog Millionaire."
- Actor: Sean Penn, "Milk."
- Actress: Kate Winslet, "The Reader."

Slumdog Millionaire

Yesterday was movie day for the BF and I. We went and saw Slumdog Millionaire. I had reservations about seeing it. I didnt know if I would like it or not. Let me tell you I loved it. Such an awesome and moving film. I have a strong feeling that this will indeed win best picture at the Oscars next month.
In other news nothing much happening on the homefront. For the past couple of days I have had a toothache that has been coming and going. Very irritating.

Last Day of Freedom

This is what happens when i have 13 days off and a free pay check. I went a bit crazy on the dvd purchases this week . Good thing is I now have all 7 seasons of Golden Girls ( Yes I know ..HOW GAY!) but also got Season 2 Heroes and Season 1 of Samantha Who?.
Speaking of Heroes I thought last nights debut of season 3 was awesome. I think they are returning to the formula they used in season 1 and i am glad for that. I cant wait to see who will remain a Hero and who will become a villian.
Another show we are watching is Fringe. Excellent show. Sort of X Files - ish . I think it will last this season.
Well I am sad to report this is my last day of vacation. back to work tomorrow at 9 am. I am not looking forward to it but you gotta do what ya gotta do. I did get alot accomplished on the vacation . The main one was the move wich is all done and everything is now in its right place. We went over today to the old apt. to vacuum and turn in my keys. So I am now done with that hell hole. Many thanks to the Bf and his roomie for the help they gave me on moving day. Even after the bf injured himself twice. Poor Lil guy. Its so nice to be somewhere and actually feel like its home not someplace you can't wait to escape. Yup I ain't going anywhere for a while !

All That Jaz

This is the new lady in my life. Miss Jaz Kitty. As I mentioned in the last post the BF got her for me as a house warming present. She and I are getting along just fine and she is adapting well. She loves to sleep under the futon and lay in the sun by the patio doors. She does get quite frisky at night though. Likes to scratch the bed and play in the blinds and watch me in the shower ( Naughty Girl!). I believe me and Miss Jaz will be together for a long time!

Kiss My Furry Cheeks

Today is my last day at my apartment. i have been here two years and that is about 18 months too long. My time spent here has not been exactly a happy one. I have had problems since day one basically. The air conditioning never worked properly, I have had terrible neighbors every time and the management here sucks. They never cared about their tennants. So now I am moving to a much better complex. I will have excellent air ( I know this cause the bf lives in the same complex), my own balconly and a washer and dryer. I am so excited. The U haul is parked outside just waniting to be used. 13 more hours and it will be.
Also for a house warming present the bf got me a kitty. We adopted her from an organization here called HALO. Her name is Jaz and she is adorable. Very frisky. i will post pics of here when i get settled from the move. Wish me luck!

The Doctor ,Rose, And Me

Before I moved to Phoenix I really didn't watch that much TV so when I got here the Bf introduced me to some shows that I had missed. Some I really enjoyed such as Gilmore Girls, Dexter and now Doctor Who. I have never been a big Sci Fi kind of guy. He tried to get me to watch Battlestar Gallactica but I just couldn't really get into it so when he had me start watching Doctor Who I was a bit timid. We have just finished watching the first 2 seasons and all I have to say is that I am hooked!!! It has become one of my fave shows at the moment. The finale of the second season actually made me tear up. I cried at a Sci Fi show!!!! I can't wait for season 3.

Would You Like Some Cheese With Your Whine?

Everybody who knows me knows what a huge Madonna fan I am. Every CD, DVD or Book I am there on release day money in hand. So with out any hesitation I bought "Life With My Sister Madonna" by Christopher Ciccone. I must say this guy is a whiner. All he does is complains about the treatment his sister has given him over there working relationship. He constantly complains that she fails to pay him for decorating jobs he has done on her homes yet every time he is asked to do another he is right there swatches in hand. In the beginning of the book Christopher states that he wants to separate himself and be know for himself as an individual not Madonna's brother. Hmmm nothing separates yourself from a person like writing a book about them . What a dumb ass. He tries to play himself off as having all these celeb friends whom he probably would not have if it was not for his sister. I just can't stand people who would sell out family for a buck. to me that is the ultimate betrayal.
Continuing on the Madonna theme. Novemeber 6th, 2008 Los Angeles Dodgers Stadium . Sticky and Sweet Tour. Bf and I will be there and it is my first Madonna concert EVER. Bf had seen the Who's That Girl Tour so this is his second. I am Soooooooooooooooo excited!!!!

Why So Serious?

Yesterday the Bf and I went to see the Dark Knight and all I have to say is WOW!!!! To me it is the best Batman movie ever made. Heath Ledger owned the part of the Joker completely surpassing Jack. Best film of the summer.
In other news I was transferred to another store last week. My new store is twice as far from my apartment as the one but I do like it. It is much slower pace and the staff seems cool. I now have a female manager and she seems nice but i have also heard other things about her so we will see.

Showing Our Colors

Last night the BF and I went to the True Colors concert at the Dodge Theater here in Phoenix. We attend last year at the one in LA. The concert was fantastic this year. The line up was The Puppini sisters (Very 1940"s sound), Wanda Sykes ( She ROCKED!!) Joan Jett and The Blackhearts (Poor Joan kept getting shocked by her mike) Andy Bell of Erasure, The B-52's, and of course Cyndi Lauper. Carson Kressly was the host of the event. The concert helps bring awareness to gay rights and raises money for the HRC, Pflag, The Matthew Sheppard Foundation and others. If you have the chance you should go and see the concert. It is awesome.
On other news I finally got my car back last week. Let me tell you I will never take my car back to that place ever again. First they kept changing the date of whenI would get my car back, then when I go there the price was 100 dollars more than they told me and lastly some items I had forgotten to take out of my car when they towed it had sudden disappeared. The Bastards!!!!!!!
