Madonna Monday.

20 years ago this week "Vogue" was the #1 song in the country. I remember hearing the song the first time while driving in my BFF in high school Polly's car. I immediately went to the Kmart in Newton, Kansas and bought the cassette of "I'm Breathless". It was a big week for us because on that following weekend was our high school graduation so this song holds a special place in my heart. "Vogue" is one of Madonn'a biggest selling singles and in my opinion one of her greatest. It has been revived by "Glee"'s Sue Sylvester having her own rendition of the song on the shows "Power of Madonna" episode. Goes to show you a classic never dies.

The Tribe Has Spoken

Tonight is the finale of " Survivor; Heroes Vs. Villians" I must admit that this has been one of the best season of the show in while. Unfortunately most of my favorites are long gone. Stephenie, Sugar, Rupert, and Amanda did not outplay, outlive or outlast. My prediction for the final 3 are Sandra, Russell, and Parvarti with Sandra becoming the first person to win Survivor twice. Even though Russell to me is the best player this game has had in a long time, I believe that his bully tactics will not sit well with members of the jury. We shall see!
On the home front we spent yesterday afternoon at Lincoln park zoo. It was fun. This is the second time I had been there but the first time I actually saw the animals. the first time I went it was winter and we went to see the holiday lights. The cool thing about Lincoln Park Zoo is that it is free and we are all about the free activities in the city.
On the job front I am still on the search. I have become very frustrated in the lack of responses to applications I have put in. Right now I am waiting on approval for a waiver from the state of Il. to work in the healthcare field. If you have read this blog you know that I ran into some legal trouble last year and got a record. So to work in the State of Il in the health care field they have to give a waiver allowing you to work in the field with a criminal record. My application has been submitted and right now I am waiting for a committe to meet to either approve or deny my request. I hope that I hear something by the end of the week. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

REBIRTH

It has been almost 8 months since I wrote in this blog. A lot has changed and I won't go into everything. I now live in Chicago and am dating somebody new. My ex in Phoenix and I are working on maintaining a friendship which I hope to never lose. I have lived in Chicago since Dec. I love the city and am still getting used to knowing my way around. As I said a lot had happened and eventually I will share it all. For now it is good to be back blogging. Hopefully I will maintain my blog a bit better this time. Stay Tuned!

Mama, I'm Coming Home

Well it has been decided that I will be leaving Phoenix and returning back to Kansas, I leave on Sept. 12 and will spend a week in Wichita visiting family then on to Topeka where i will be roomies with my best gal, Melissa. This is not the first time Mel and I have been roomies We lived together for almost 10 months before I moved to Phoenix in June of 2006. I am not going to comment about why or what finalized the decision of me moving. I just don't have the energy to go into. I will just say that the decision was not mine. The Bf will maintain a long distance relationship. The plan is that I return to Kansas, get my life back in order and then return to Arizona. I am scared and nervous but I guess I just have to go with life's punches. I have survived worst in the past.

Take Me Home

I have been thinking of home lately. In home I mean Kansas. i have a weird relationship with my home state. When I am away for it for a while, i start to miss it. When I am there too long I want out. It's a love/hate thing. I think that the hate part comes from growing up in a small town as a gay kid with no one really to look up too. I do have a gay uncle but never had the balls as a teen to talk with him about my feelings. As an adult I have returned and left Kansas 3 separate times each time vowing to never come back to live. After living in a few big cities I start to miss the country feel of home. All my family is in either Kansas, Oklahoma, or Iowa. I feel I am missing out on the lives of my nieces and nephews. I have not seen my aunts uncles cousins or Grandparents in over 10 years. I do speak to a few cousins on line and they keep my informed of the family on goings. I just miss having family around. It be nice to have that again. I do believe if my plight here in Phoenix doesn't improve returning to Kansas my come into play. I know my family would be glad to have me back but will I?

Don't You Forget About Me

I was saddened yesterday to learn about the death of director John Hughes. he appartnetly had a heart attack while out for his morning walk in Manhattan. He responsible for such classics as "Sixteen Candles" , "Pretty In Pink", "Home Alone" and my personal favorite, "The Breakfast Club" All his movies, especially the ones with Molly Ringwald bring back so many memories of my teen years in the 80's and I am sure they still speak to teens today. Mr. Hughes I want to thank you for all the great films and ,sir, you will be greatly missed.

Straight Up , Now Tell Me

Paula Abdul announced yesterday that she will not be returning as one of the judges on American Idol when it returns for season 9. Apparently this stems from a money dispute between Abdul and Fox. She wanted $20 million to return and Fox would only offer half of that amount(yet the paid Ryan Seacrest $45 million for 3 years) I do not know if I will watch Idol with out Paula. I am not a big fan Of Kara DioGuardi who was added as a fourth judge this past season. Abdul has been reportedly talking to producers of the show "So You Think You Can Dance" to be a judge on that show which ironically is on Fox. I do feel that a dancing competition is more suited for Paula than a singing competition. Now with Abdul leaving my burning question that I have always wanted to know will never be answered. What was really in her Coke cup????

Madonna Monday

On September 29th, 2009 Madonna will release her third greatest hits CD called "Celebration". There will be 2 versions released. A single disc version and a double disc version. The double disc will contain 34 songs . The track listing has not been released yet but from reports that the hits package will span Madonna's entire 25 year career plus 2 new songs, "Celebrate" and "Revolver". "Celebration" will be Madonna's last CD for Warner Brothers. After this she begins her deal with Live Nation for at least 3 more albums. I am excited for the CD. I hope she includes some songs that were left off "The Immaculate Collection" and "GHV2" such as "Dress You Up", "Who's That Girl", and "Bad Girl" to name a few. Whatever songs she includes I know I will be playing this CD over and over again!

Come Out Come Out Where Ever You Are

As usual the BF and I are watching this summers edition of Big Brother. So far it has not been that exciting of a season but ,hey, we are only 3 weeks in. So far our 2 favorites are Jeff and Jordon. The one person I can not stand and personally would bitch slap if I was in the house would be Ronnie. This guy is a total douche. Do you remember in high school there was always this one nerdy kid that the jocks and popular kids let hang around them? The nerd thought he was super cool and part of the gang while the jocks and populars just wanted a bitch boy? That boy is Ronnie. He goes around acting like he is a god when everybody is laughing at him and dislikes him. He thinks he is running the game but in all honesty he is just doing the jocks bidding so they don't get their hands dirty. Hopefully the rest of the house guests will smarten up and get Ronnie out before he ends up like Evil Dick did a few seasons ago. Be hated by all but still winning the whole thing.
Another thing about Ronnie is that the boy is the biggest closet case I have ever seen. He is "married" to a woman but so was I once. He just has this gay vibe about him to me.The way he jumps up and down when he wins something, the crying, and best of all ... when he won HOH and got to get his CD that he chose...it was Legally Blonde : The Musical. Cmon!!!! GAY!!!! (allegedly)

Madonna Monday

This to me is the funniest thing Madonna has ever done in her career. It is one of 8 shorts produce by BMW in 2001/2002. This clip with Madonna called "Star" was directed by then husband Guy Ritchie. Madge does not appear in all 8 shorts, just this one. Although Clive Owen does appear in all 8. The entire series was called "The Hire". I can watch this over and over again and it still cracks me up. Pure genius!

My New Best Friend

Frustration and I have become great friends these past few months. We have become quite intimate. He is there everyday when I wake up and stays with me until I go to sleep. He is a loyal friend. There is just one thing about him..I wish he would go the hell away!!!!!
As you can probably tell things are not going well for me right now. The job search has only yielded 3 interviews in which none have panned out. I have sent dozens of copies of my resume out, applied to several job openings on line and yet nothing. Now I keep getting bombarded with calls an emails about my car payment which I am 3 payments behind. I just don't know what to do. All I keeping thinking is that at least I am free and have a place to stay and food to eat. Others in my position probably don't have the people that care for them like. So I just trudge forward and hope everyday that something will come through. Until then I just keep on trying.

Summer Film Fest

Monday the Bf and I went to see " Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince". It was good but not my favorite of the series. That honor goes to 'Goblet Of Fire". The movie seems to center around more of the kids becoming more mature and noticing the opposite sex. I love the dynamic of Hermoine and her hard time dealing with her growing feelings for Ron. It is a shame that so much of the book had to be cut out to fit the film time. If not the movie would have probably been 4 hours long. The main missing part is the ending battle on the grounds of Hogwarts while the confrontation between The Deatheaters and Dumbledore in the bell tower is going on but over all I enjoyed the movie.
Overall we have been keeping up with our summer movie schedule this year. So far since the summer movie season '09 started we have seen:

1. Star Trek
2. Angels And Demons
3. Terminator: Salvation
4. Up!
5. Land Of The Lost
6. Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince

The next movie on our list is "The Orphan" which is released on Friday. We have not yet seen seen the new Transformers movie. I still have not seen the first so that one is up in the air. So far I have not really been disappointed with anything we have seen this year with the exception of "Land Of The Lost" Don't get me wrong is wasn't terrible it just wasn't great either. My favorite so far has been "Up!" Love Mr. Frederickson.

Madonna Monday

20 years ago on March 2nd, 1989 Pepsi aired their new commercial featuring Madonna's new single "Like A Prayer" during The Cosby Show. This was the first time a major artist had debuted a single in a commercial. I mean this was so big there was a commercial advertising the actually ad. The ad only aired once. The next day the video for "Like A Prayer" was released and the boys at Pepsi were not too pleased. The sexual religious undertones and burning crosses were too much for some and a Pepsi boycott was threatened if the ad was not pulled. Pepsi pulled the ad and backed out of sponsoring Madonna's upcoming "Blonde Ambition" tour that summer. Madonna did keep the $5 million she was paid for the ad and when asked if she would ever do commercial again she responded by saying " I think people will think twice before the ask me to endorse their product" In the future Madonna has done ads for such companies and Max Factor and Este Lauder. In September of that year "Like A Prayer" won the Viewers Choice Award at MTV's Video Music Awards. The award was sponsored by.......Pepsi!

God I Hope I Get It

The Emmy nominations were announced today and there were a few shockers. The first being that "Family Guy" was nominated for best comedy. That makes it the first animated show that has been nominated since " The Flinstones'' back in 1961. The real shocker of this is that "The Simpsons" have never been nominated in that category in 20 seasons. Another shocker is some of the snubs. For instance 'True Blood" I thought for sure Anna Paquin would get one since she won the Golden Globe for the category. Also Nelsan Ellis who plays Lafayette truely deserved one as did the show for Best Drama. Another person I thought should have gotten a nom was John Noble as Dr. Walter Bishop on Fox's "Fringe"
The Emmy's have been known for the snubbing of some great shows and acting. Sarah Michelle Gellar for "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" , Lauren Graham for "Gilmore Girls", Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell for "Battelstar Galactica" Sci fi has always had a hard time with the Emmys.
Now there are some nominations I was very pleased to see. Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange for "Grey Gardens" and Jim Parsons as Dr. Sheldon Cooper on ABC's "The Big Bang Theory" are just a few. Some categories I feel are not needed such as Best Reality Show Host. Speaking of reality shows, here is an interesting fact. "The Amazing Race" has won best reality show competion every year since 2003. In fact it is the only show to win that category. "American Idol' has been nominated every time and has never won.
The 61st Primetime Emmy awards airs September 20th on CBS with host Neil Patrick Harris.

Madonna Monday

" Who's That Girl" is one of the rare songs that Madonna has released as a single but has performed during only one tour. That tour of course being 1987's "Who's That Girl" Tour. The song is from the film of the same name and spent 1 week at #1 in August of 87. It has been considered one of her best songs. It has been notably absent from any greatest hits album she has released. The song has always been one of my favorite Madge tunes and I have always wondered did she write the song about herself?
